Hello everybody,
Mr Perry has given me a guest pass to write some posts for our shared blog.
At the minute in school all the children and teachers are getting ready for the dreaded SATS.
The SATs test you and it will tell the teacher where you are with the skills you need to learn to get a job.
What are your tests like?
Please put a comment on what you think about your tests.
Hope your all ok in Australia.
From all of us at Greenfields.

How goes it with you guys?
Easter came and the weather was the best we've had for years. It usually rains for the entire two weeks of our spring break but this time it was glorious. You guys could do with the rain by the sounds.
Thanks for your post about your classes. We can use it to refer to when your talking about which classes are doing what.

Happy Easter to Greenfield PS

Hello and Happy Easter to everyone at Greenfield Primary!
Kilsyth PS are currently enjoying our first term break of 2 weeks which includes our Easter holidays. (Our school year starts at the end of January and finishes just before Christmas). We are having warm days and even some rain which we desperately need.
I thought I would tell you about the grades at Kilsyth so you would have an idea of how we are structured - maybe some of your grades can link up with a similar grade over here!
Our youngest students are called 'Preps', short for Preparatory Grade. They are around 5 years old when they start school. We have 2 Prep grades - Prep J and Prep T ( I teach Prep J).
All the other grades at Kilsyth are composite grades - 2 grade levels combined in one grade:
we have - 2/1G, 2/1T, 2/1V
4/3G, 4/3H, 4/3B
6/5W, 6/5S, 6/5C.
Grade 6 is the end of primary school - after that they move onto secondary colleges which go from Year 7 to Year 12.
We would love to hear how your school is organised.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon, and hope that Easter Bunny brings you something lovely!
regards,
Julie Corr

A day in the life
Well here is our first day in the life of Greenfield.
Red Nose Day has been going for a few years and is a charity day where you do something silly and raise money for children who need it, at home and in other countries. Tonight on TV will be a tellython with comedy sketches and information about how the money is spent.
At Greenfield we had a performance called "Stone Soup" which was about the imbalance between the rich and the poor. It was an emotional and brilliantly acted performance and there is no tougher crowd than a group of 9-11 year olds.
We also had various events in each class to raise money and you might spot that we are dressed in our PJs!
Hope you like it....

What's it like over there?
Do you have any questions for our friends in Australia? They might be on the other side of the world but is the Australian lifestyle really that different to our own? Well let's find out. I've got a few questions to get us started. Would you guys at Kilsythe mind answering? It'll be great to get answers from a few people. I expect you'll have your own opinions and disagree about some answers.
Do you guys watch British soaps like we watch Australian ones?
What's it like having Christmas day on the beach?
If you left Australia, what would you miss?
Calling all Greenfielders! Add your questions in a comment.

Greenfield PS website
Hi Greenfield PS!
I've just been looking at your school's website. I really like the drawings and captions that you have made to talk about your school. Would you mind if our students did something similar? I would like our website to have more of the students' input and this would be great way to do it.
We are still getting pretty warm weather over here even though it's Autumn. We have a bad drought at the moment, so we are hoping to get some rain soon. The dams around Melbourne are only about 30% full. We are only allowed to water our gardens 2 nights a week and soon we won't be allowed to water at all! Our school is looking at ways that we can save water.
Talk to you soon,
regards,
Julie Corr
